Passing gas is very uncomfortable for the most people but everyone does it, either by belching (burping) or flatulence (farting).
What causes the gas?
There are two ways in which the gas creates in our body.
1. While doing regular stuff, like speaking and eating, we swallow a certain amount of air that collects in the stomach and is later released through burping or belching and flatulence or farting.
2. The second way for gas to be created in our body is by digesting our food. Our body is breaking down food into energy and while doing that certain gasses are produced.
Gas Producing Foods
There is really no “official” list of foods that cause gas. We are all different and while some foods can cause gas in some people, others may not have a problem.
Foods that are high in carbohydrates rather than fats or proteins tend to cause gas. People usually blame beans, cabbage, onions, pears, apples, peaches, milk and milk products.
Symptoms
Most people experience belching and flatulence frequently while on some occasion abdominal bloating and pain can also be experienced. Passing gas 15-20 times a day is considered normal.
